SUPPORT SBMS

SBMS is...

Santa Barbara Middle School is more than a building, and it is more than just a school. It is a vibrant, innovative, and compassionate community of learners, thinkers, dreamers, and doers.

SBMS is about the teachers and staff who inspire critical thinking, self-discovery, and resilience in their students. It is about the teachers and staff who forge meaningful relationships with students and parents, creating bonds of trust that extend beyond the classroom.

SBMS is about the students who embrace the program and become independent, self-confident, and discerning individuals. It is about the graduates who go out into the world and make a difference.

And SBMS is about you - the parents, trustees, alumni, grandparents, and community partners who invest in our students during these critical and formative years.

Like most independent schools, SBMS relies on your tax-deductible gift to cover the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Middle School education. Donations to the Annual Fund help us deliver our innovative programs and curriculum and increase our ability to offer financial aid to more families.

At SBMS, tuition covers about 90% of the our annual operating expenses, leaving a gap of $2,500 per student between tuition and the full cost of our unique educational program. For those who can contribute over $2,500, we welcome and rely on gifts of $5,000, $10,000 or more.

We ask that 100% of our parents, faculty, and trustees contribute to the Annual Fund, and we are proud that we annually achieve 99%-100% participation. Our school’s participation rate is well above the national average for independent schools.

Now, and always, your gift is truly appreciated and accepted with great gratitude.
