...and how to receive Honors credit.
All students are required to answer each of the following essay questions. Each essay should be no more and no less than one page. All essays must contain concrete evidence (for example, the use of direct quotations) to back up any given information. Essays must be typed, 12 point font, with 1.5 spacing.
In order to earn Honors credit for the spring semester, all six essays must be completed and students must earn a cumulative B average on these essays.
ESSAY 1: Due Monday April 28
If Iago only wanted to hurt Othello, why did so many other characters get hurt?
ESSAY 2: Due Friday May 2
Discuss and give evidence for the downfall of Desdemona. What did her character have to do with it?
ESSAY 3: Due Thursday May 8
Why did so many of the main characters think Iago to be an honest man?
ESSAY 4: Due Wednesday May 14
Discuss Iago’s use of racism to motivate people.
ESSAY 5: Due Wednesday May 21
What do you make of Othello’s behavior during the murder scene? What does his language tell us about him?

Rough draft due Tuesday, May 6, Final draft due Tuesday, May 20
Please choose one of the following two topics:
1) Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (such as art, music, science, etc…) that has had an influence on you, and describe that influence.
2) Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and it’s impact on you.
