Students will be providing their own food and cooking for themselves on backpacking stoves. Every person brings his/her own breakfasts, lunches and snacks. In addition each student provides dinner once or twice for their entire cook group of 2 or 3.  Students are in cook groups of 2 or 3, sharing a stove, a pot, scrubbie and lighter (see page 2 of the Printable menu for cooking partners.). Below are 5 different downloads which will help you plan nutritious and well balanced meals.

An explanation of each sheet:

1. Meals broken down by food groups - each meal should have carbohydrates and protein.

2. A list of food ideas as well as food tips from students on prior trips.

3.  A sample menu - to give you an idea of how much to eat at each meal

4. Two pages. A printable planning menu for cooking partners - we will go over this in class as well.

Note that the days you supply and cook dinner, you are responsible for bringing food for everyone in your cook group. Bring enough to feed your cooking partners (1 or 2 in addition to yourself.) The other nights your cooking partners will bring dinner to feed you!
