The Diamond

The Diamond is our school’s magazine, published twice per year. It’s a great way to get a sense of all the incredible things we do here at SBMS. Over the years, The Diamond has evolved to include alumni stories, student writing, insightful reflections, major announcements, and many other SBMS happenings. If you are an alum and would like to contribute or make an announcement, please email us at office@sbms.org—we would love to hear from you.

Mandala

Mandala, derived from the ancient Sanskrit word meaning “circle,” traditionally refers to intricate Buddhist or Hindu sand paintings composed of concentric circles used in meditation and spiritual practices. Serving as a sacred tool for reflection, mandalas cultivate harmony and insight. Carl Jung viewed mandalas as profound symbols of wholeness, representing the mystical unity connecting us to the universe—a symbolic
microcosm reflecting our place within it.

The pages of the Middle School Mandala have showcased the vibrant artistic expressions of Santa Barbara Middle School students through poetry, prose, photography, and art. Like its namesake, the magazine embodies connection: it unites us with each other, anchors us in the present moment, and binds us to the rich history and promising future of SBMS. Because of those who came before, we thrive today. Because of us, those who follow will flourish.
