Creative Arts & Sports at SBMS
At SBMS, creativity and physical activity are integral to our students' growth. Our electives program offers 10 choices per year, allowing students to explore their artistic passions, athletic interests, and intellectual curiosities. From visual and performing arts to competitive sports and hands-on leadership opportunities, our students develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
Team Sports: Our "Play All" philosophy encourages students to try a variety of sports in a supportive, skill-focused environment. With no cuts, every student plays, competing in soccer, volleyball, basketball, flag football, beach volleyball, and surfing.
Visual & Performing Arts: Creativity thrives at SBMS with courses in drawing, filmmaking, drama, music, and digital media. Our drama department is unmatched at the middle school level, offering productions like the Spring Musical and Summer Stock Theater. Students can also explore Teen Press, an award-winning journalism program, or showcase their musical talents at Songfest, our annual music festival.
Diamond Time & Leadership: Mornings at SBMS begin with Diamond Time, offering students enrichment activities before class, from surfing and beach volleyball to music and academic support. Our Bike Mechanics Program fosters leadership and service, with students playing a vital role in supporting our renowned Outdoor Education Program.
Through a dynamic mix of arts, athletics, and leadership opportunities, SBMS students discover their passions, build lifelong skills, and cultivate a love for creative and active learning.
