Our journey began with the annual orientation ride, a cherished tradition where students cycled from Santa Barbara to Carpinteria.

At SBMS, we know how to start the year right! It’s not in the classroom, with assignments or solving equations—it’s out on the road, getting to know one another, building community, and learning from the world around us.

The cold air startles my skin and the salty breeze floods my lungs as I climb up the ladder to the upper deck. I have found my perfect spot.

There are a few times in life when you are acutely aware of being in a transformative moment—both personally and witnessing others going through the same experience.

9th grade has sought out ways to integrate the curriculum in order that students learn in a more authentic, holistic, and relevant way. The Channel Islands Expedition and the curriculum built around it are incredible examples of this integration.
