8th Graders at the Overnight Trip

During your child’s time at SBMS, they will…

  • Gain an understanding of how they learn
  • Take a leadership role in a project, event or activity of significance
  • Learn how to push through adversity and be challenged inside and outside of the classroom
  • Have taken over 10 electives of their choosing each year in sports, fine arts, and drama
  • Fund a micro-loan for a person in another country through KIVA.org 
  • Complete a dissection
  • Build a catapult and create a robot
  • Create a piece of art using math equations
  • Write over 30 essays
  • Work in the community studying a career for 50 hours and volunteer at a non-profit for 25 hours
  • Be formally honored by a peer and person of their choice at Rites of Passage Ceremony
  • Participate on a stage, perform in a Shakespearean play and recite a Soliloquy by an author of their choice
  • Ride over 300 miles, backpack 50 miles, and kayak 55 miles
  • Learn how to fix a flat tire
  • Attend several teacher, student, and parent conferences
  • Write a 5000 word journal in 7th grade, and write and perform a piece of slam poetry
  • Spend 50 nights in a tent, cook a meal with a team for 200 people, make 65 sandwiches and wash their own dishes
  • Be seen, heard, recognized and loved by our faculty and staff
