​Thank you for considering Santa Barbara Middle School (SBMS) for your child’s middle school journey. Our admissions process is designed to help families explore the dynamic, inclusive, and experiential learning environment that defines SBMS. We welcome students from diverse educational backgrounds who share our core values of kindness, curiosity, and a passion for lifelong learning.​

If you are interested in applying for the 2026-2027 school year you must already have an SBMS account by filling this out.  Once your account is complete and you have received a welcome email from the admissions team, please click the link below to start the application.

START YOUR APPLICATION

Applications for the 2026–2027 school year will open in late September 2025. To begin the process:​

1. Request an Information Packet
   Start by requesting our admissions packet, which offers an in-depth look at our Diamond Curriculum, community values, and unique programs. 

2. Attend Admissions Events
   We offer various opportunities to experience SBMS firsthand, including:

   • Open Houses: Meet faculty, students, and explore our campus.

   • Family Tours: Personalized tours to see our community in action.

   • Shadow Days: Prospective students spend a day with current students.

   • Coffee with the Head of School: Informal Q&A sessions with our leadership team.​

3. Complete the Application Form
   Submit the online application by February 2, 2026. Ensure all required documents, including transcripts and teacher observation forms, are included.

4. Submit Additional Forms
   Provide any additional required forms, such as the student questionnaire and parent questionnaire.

5. Assessment Testing
   Applicants must complete either the SBMS Assessment Test or submit ISEE scores. The SBMS Assessment Test is scheduled for January 24, 2026, with a makeup date on January 28, 2026.

6. Interviews
   Both the student and parent/guardian will participate in an interview to discuss the applicant's interests and alignment with SBMS values.

7. Notification
   Admission decisions will be communicated by March 6, 2026. Accepted families must submit enrollment contracts by March 20, 2026.
