The Alumni Circle

For over 40 years, Santa Barbara Middle School has been guiding children through the rites of becoming, shaping them into young adults and launching them into the rest of their lives. The Alumni Circle is a place for these adults to reconnect to friends and teachers who were so foundational during such a pivotal time. It is also a place for us to celebrate and support our alma mater--from the Latin, meaning nourishing mother.

As we fondly look back on the nourishment SBMS provided to us, I would like to encourage you to reach out to SBMS now to see how you can continue to be part of this community. We love to have alumni back to speak at Town Meetings (which we still have every Friday), to volunteer on our outdoor expeditions, maybe even teach a class or two, or be a rep for your class. There are many ways to get involved!

For years Whitney worked tirelessly from the center of our community to keep us all connected, and we formed the Alumni Circle in 2010 to build upon that foundation and keep the fire burning.

The Alumni Circle is a worldwide SBMS community of students, teachers, parents, and friends that provides a platform to stay connected to the school as well as each other. As we look to the future, we hope that the Alumni Circle will grow into a resource for high school students looking at colleges, college grads entering the workforce, and world travelers who need a recommendation for a place to visit.

With the help of our class representatives, we host milestone reunions every year (when a class reaches its 10th reunion, 15th, 20th, etc.) and created the Alumni Songfest in 2017. We hope to continue these traditions each year and would love your ideas for planning future alumni events!

Now that most of you are adults, we hope to hear about the moments and the magic from your formative SBMS years and how they shaped who you are today. We want to know where you are, what you are up to, and how you are doing!

If you are interested in becoming a Class Rep, planning a reunion for your class, or coming to a Friday Town Meeting to share your story with our current students, please email me here.
We look forward to hearing from all of you!

Thanks for keeping the fire burning.
