Students leave Santa Barbara Middle School with an enthusiasm for learning, self-assuredness, commitment to service, compassion, and respect for others. They are solidly prepared to handle the academic challenges of high school.

The majority of our students excel in the GATE/Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) programs in high school and go on to attend the finest universities in the country. Each year our alumni receive top academic honors and community service awards in both high school and college.

SUCCESS IN HIGH SCHOOL

In a recent survey of SBMS alumni, the average GPA was 3.975 and 83% took AP, GATE or Honors level courses in high school. Fifty percent of these alums were accepted into one of the high school academies (Multimedia & Design Academy, Visual Arts & Design Academy, International Baccalaureate, Green Academy, etc.).

Upon graduating from one of the local public high schools, ten of our recent alumni earned the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. Of those ten, they also earned the following awards:
  • California Scholarship Federation Seal Bearers (4)
  • National Honor Society members (3)
  • National Merit Scholarship Program - Commended Students (3)
  • International Baccalaureate Certificates in Math, Spanish and Visual Arts (3)
  • 200% Community Service Awards (3)
