Campus Tours Families and students must take a tour of the school or attend an Open House. We invite everyone who is involved in the application decision to attend. The tours are a perfect opportunity for the family to see classes in action, meet teachers and students, and ask questions. Campus tours are held on Mondays, 3-4:30 pm and Wednesdays, 8:30-10 am.
Open House Please join us for an Open House on Saturday, December 5, 2020, 3-5 pm or Saturday, January 9, 2021, 3-5 pm. Both events begin promptly at 3 pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early to park and find seating.
Spend a Day at SBMS Interested students spend a full day at SBMS during the inquiry process. Your child will accompany a student in the grade which he/she is applying to enter. We feel it is important for students to meet our teachers and students and experience our academic and creative arts classes. ~~~ To sign up for campus tour, open house or shadow day, please email Mandy.
Please complete and submit the online application. There is a $100.00 application fee which is payable via credit card online, cash, or check. The application is due by February 5, 2021 for priority consideration.
The following forms must be completed as part of the application. These forms are available for download once you begin the online application here. Parent Questionnaire Please print out, complete the parent questionnaire portion of the application, then submit to SBMS.
Student Questionnaire Please print out, (and have applying student) complete the student questionnaire portion of the application, then submit to SBMS. Please include copies of some of your present academic work (not originals).
Three Teacher Observation Forms Once you begin the online application, you can download the three Teacher Observation Forms (which include cover letters). Please give the form and cover letter to two teachers from your child’s current year and one from the previous year. Teachers should be of academic subjects (social studies, English, math, or science). Observation Forms are to be mailed directly from the school to SBMS. Before giving the Observation Forms to teachers, please sign at the top of the form. The form is found behind the cover letter.
Transcript Release Form Download, complete and sign the Transcript Release Form, and give it directly to the applicant’s current school.
The Assessment/Placement Test is a required part of the application process. The SBMS Assessment Test will be given at SBMS on Saturday, January 23, 2021, 9-11:30 am and Wednesday, February 3, 2021, 4-6:30pm. Please sign up to take the test via the online application. You may also contact Mandy via email or call 805-682-2989 to sign up. If your child needs special accommodation as specified in an IEP or 504 Plan, please contact Pam Boswell. The ISEE test scores are also accepted. Our ISEE code # is 054116.
Completing the application is the responsibility of the applicant family. You can easily check your student’s application to see if the application is complete by logging into the online application and clicking on "status." Applicants will be notified of acceptance or denial by mail, and letters are mailed Friday, March 5, 2021. Some applicants may be placed on a waiting list; they will also be notified by mail.
For priority consideration, the parent portion and $100 must be submitted by February 5, 2021. The file must be complete, including transcripts, three teacher forms, student section, SBMS Assessment Test or ISEE test, by February 11, 2021.
