Emerson's Sailing Adventure

Emerson was 1 of 400 opti (optimist class boat) sailors to qualify to compete for a national team spot. You have to be 14 years old or younger. More than 200 kids competed in the San Francisco Bay competition from Thursday to Sunday. The first two days (Thursday/friday) were round robin style and the sailors competed against all 200 in different heats. He sailed well enough during the preliminary rounds to earn his way into the gold fleet (top 70 sailors). 

 

Though he did not finish as well as he wanted to, we are exceptionally proud of him and his efforts for competing against the gold fleet (best of the best). He is one of the top 70 opti sailors in the country.
